Scintilla
“Scintilla”, a new project by the pianist and composer Beata Hlavenková, is a follow-up to her previous successful solo album “Theodoros”. Its new material, verging on the border between genres, is presented again in a thematically unified whole. Beata´s piano is augmented by various keyboard and vocal layers with each track featuring one or more guest musicians. The parts of the keyboardist Anders Aarum (with whom Beata also performs live), vocalist Julie Dahle Aagård and percussionist Kenneth Ekornes (known mostly for his collaboration with Mari Boine) were all recorded in Norway. The clarinettist Evan Ziporyn and trumpetist Ingrid Jensen (soloist of Maria Schneider Orchestra) recorded their tracks in the USA and the performances by Jiří Bárta (on the cello) and the singer-guitarist Justin Lavash were recorded in Beata´s home country, the Czech Republic.
